We're independent
insulation-grant.org.uk offers independent guidance on UK insulation and heating grants. This isn't a government website. It doesn't belong to or get run by any scheme, any council, Ofgem, Home Energy Scotland, Nest or the Northern Ireland Housing Executive. A scheme is named only so you can tell which one a page covers. Whether you get a grant is decided only by the scheme or its delivery partner.
We use the word "free" for a grant only when a household meets the scheme's rules and the scheme pays the whole cost.
Who runs the site?
Ellsworth Eligibility Ltd, 10 Queen Street Place, London EC4R 1BE, United Kingdom. Send an email to enquiries@insulation-grant.org.uk. For details you send through this site, the data controller is Ellsworth Eligibility Ltd.
Our privacy notice
The details we collect
Your browser is where the grant checker runs. Your postcode and the answers you give it don't get sent to us. Your last answers are saved by the checker, as ig.checker.answers, in the local storage of your browser, so it can remember them. Your browser settings let you clear it whenever you like.
When you send the survey request form, we get your name, your home's postcode, the work that interests you, and either an email address or a phone number.
A small usage record also reaches us from our pages. It notes the page, the screen type, and whether the checker or a link was used. There's no name or way to contact you in it, and it sets no cookie.
Why we use your details, and our basis
Passing your survey request on is the only thing we do with it. It goes to accredited insulation or heating installers covering your postcode, at most three, who may then contact you about a quote and a survey. When you send the form, you're giving your consent, and that's our lawful basis. Running and improving the site is the legitimate interest behind keeping the usage records.
Storing your request
Once you send a survey request, it's deleted within 12 months at the latest. We keep usage records only as summaries.
The rights you have
You have the right under UK GDPR to ask for a copy of your details, to ask us to correct or delete them, to withdraw your consent, or to object to the way we use them. Send us a note by email and you'll get our reply within one month. Anything done before you withdrew consent isn't affected.
Do you feel your details weren't handled well? Complaints go to the ICO (Information Commissioner's Office), which regulates personal data in the UK, via ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
Cookies
No cookies are set by us. Your device holds just one thing: the last answers the checker saved, which it needs so it works the way you expect.
Marketing
You'll never be added to a mailing list by us, and we never send marketing messages. The only thing an installer will contact you about is the request you made.
Rules for using the site
The information here gives general guidance about public schemes. Budgets get used up, schemes change and councils make their own rules, so before you rely on anything, check the official page linked from each of our pages. From public rules, the checker gives a likely answer; it doesn't decide anything about your home.
Any installer that contacts you runs an independent business. You and the installer are the two sides of any contract for the work. Agree to nothing until you've confirmed the installer's TrustMark registration, plus MCS certification where heat pumps or solar panels are involved.
If you rely on what this site says, that's your own risk: we don't accept liability for any loss it causes, except where UK law doesn't allow a limit. These terms are governed by English and Welsh law.
